MATTRESS ZZZEN
MATTRESS CARE AND HYGIENE
What you like in a mattress is as unique as you are! Because a mattress is a major purchase, it might feel overwhelming to shop for.
Don’t panic! There are several steps you can take to set yourself up for success – and ultimately a better night’s rest – by doing a little research before you start shopping, and once you’re at the store comparing your options.
Get started
on the right
foot.
Making sure your new mattress & foundation are properly installed in your bedroom is the first step in caring for your new bed. Improper installation can damage your new sleep set. If you choose to transport and install it yourself, ask store personnel for advice to help you avoid problems.
Cover it up.
A washable mattress protector will keep your set fresh and free from stains, dust mites and allergens. It protects your investment and will be beneficial in case of a warranty claim.
No little
PEOPLE on
your bed.
Don’t let the kids jump on your bed. They could damage the interior construction of your bed or they could get hurt.
Deep
breaths.
If you detect a slight new product odour when you first get your new set, air the mattress and foundation in a well ventilated bedroom for a few hours.
Rotate it.
Unless your mattress care instructions indicate otherwise, you may want to periodically rotate your mattress from end-to-end and flip it over, if applicable.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions
Be sure to follow any specific guidelines from your manufacturer about the best method of mattress care.
Provide
good
support.
Be sure to use a sturdy, high-quality foundation.
Make sure your foundation has a strong centre support that will prevent the mattress from bowing or breaking.
The best way to care for your mattress is simply to vacuum it.
Keeping Your Mattress Squeaky Clean – Worried about stains on your mattress? Whatever you do, don’t apply harsh chemicals like dry cleaning products or spot removers. These products can harm the fabric or underlying materials in your mattress and do more damage than good. If your mattress is damp in any spot, sprinkle baking soda on it to absorb the moisture, then vacuum.
If there is a stain you want to work on, lightly apply mild soap and cold water, blotting as you go. Avoid soaking your mattress or foundation with any liquid. Remember that a waterproof mattress protector is the best way to avoid stains.
